I guess I wasn’t as sophisticated as Graham Harman: I just always wondered why it had to be turtles.
Actually, I always loved the irony that the only stopping point I could find with that was simply the coup de force of that argument. Also, why are turtles (I prefer to think of chocolate ice cream sandwiches all the way down) so bad if all the way down, but “horizontal” notions of displacement to infinity not? For example, differential structures of language are really an infinite “horizontal” displacement across language. But going up or down, it’s bad.
